Called into the desert,
he did not flinch,
walking for miles
in faith inch by inch;
Not knowing the mission —
only his God’s voice —
he took not a moment
to ponder his choice;
Ordained by apostles
to feed mouths of men,
filled with the Spirit,
he taught of heaven;
Crowds listened intently
as he shared Good News,
in Jesus’ name healing
the Greeks and the Jews;
Now meeting a eunuch
from a distant land,
returning from worship
in Jerusalem;
The Spirit did bid him
to approach the man
in chariot reading,
to which he now ran,
without hesitation,
though there was a span —
in rank and in language,
in faith and homeland.
The powerful eunuch
shared with him his scroll
inscribed with prophesies
of Jesus’ roll:
being slain as a lamb,
sacrificed, for our toll,
into the kingdom
of His father extolled.
Rejoicing the eunuch
was baptized that day,
when Philip’s did follow
the path that God lay.
